It’s a great day to be Mexican!
Mexi-C-A-N. Have you ever noticed that we have a built-in affirmative in our very name? Our name alone is a testament to the power inside each of us. It’s a visual reminder of whatever it is you want that you can build it, and to your specifications. You are the architect; therefore, you are the rule maker. There are no limits to how far you can go. This is the Mexican promise.
But not everyone wants us to pursue that limitless dream. They feel threatened that we have become too successful, have access to too much, and that there are simply too many of us encroaching upon what they perceive as solely “theirs.” So they make rules to stymie our progress and control us with fear. This is our society today.
But just because it's happening doesn't mean it's normal. There is time to change the trajectory. Seek out ways to feel uplifted, especially in the smallest ways where you may think won’t make any difference—it does. Speak your truth. Your seemingly wobbly voice is more powerful than the complacency of silence. Think of the times in your life you could have used an angel. Be that angel for someone else. Understand this: even small, positive contributions to the energy pool will create big movement eventually. The collective results will be amazing!
So despite the chaos, resist the fear. Instead, be outraged. Rally with your Brown brothers and sisters because together we’re stronger and better able to move from chaos into stability. Be aware of what’s going on around you. Inform yourself with reliable, independent news sources. Define the great in your day every day and above all embody the “can” in Mexican.
